Sarina Prabasi is Co-Founder of Buunni Coffee. Centered in Northern Manhattan, Buunni focuses on coffee and community building. Sarina and her husband Elias opened their independent coffee shop in Inwood when they moved from Ethiopia in 2011.
Sarina was named by both Fortune and Food & Wine magazines as one of the Most Innovative Women in Food & Drink, and she was honored by the New York Business Journal as a 2016 Woman of Influence. She is the author of the book, The Coffeehouse Resistance: Brewing Hope in Desperate Times which came out from Green Writers Press in April 2019.
Sarina participated in and was awarded a grant through a business pitch competition Accompany Capital hosted in partnership with Bridgehampton National Bank and went on to become an Accompany Capital loan client. She received a loan from Accompany Capital in September of 2020 to help grow their subscription base and increase their online presence through digital marketing and advertising. Sarina also received PPP loans from Accompany Capital for all four of her locations.
