When Muhammad came to New York from his native Afghanistan, he enrolled in college classes at Queensborough Community College, while driving a cab 60 hours a week to make ends meet.

He applied to BCNA’s IDA program for a refugees and qualified for a matching grant to help pay his tuition. That grant from was critical in helping ensure a bright future for Muhammad; while he is still supporting himself by driving a cab part time, the grant has allowed him to be a full-time student, well on his way to his degree.
