The Future of Social Enterprise is Here
The Future of Social Enterprise is Here
I was very happy that I was able to stop by Columbia Business School’s Social Enterprise Conference earlier this month (even though I was one of a handful of participants over 30!)
The goal of the conference was to provide access to industry experts, thought leaders, and practitioners to delve deeper into the ways leaders can use innovative strategies to maximize social change.
The keynote speakers were so energizing and enlightening, perhaps we should think seriously about recruiting our next group of political leaders from this segment!
So many of the attendees were not only young and tech savvy, but also possessed tremendous clarity as to how to meet social challenges. I was particularly impressed with Charles Best, founder and CEO of DonorsChoose.org, and Jeremy Heimans, Co-founder and CEO of Purpose, which develops and launches social and consumer movements using a model of movement entrepreneurship, and works with organizations and progressive companies to help them mobilize large-scale, purposeful action. And a special thanks to the remarkable students, Jenny Tolan and Vidula Menon, who organized the conference; and Jen Shea and Mallika Kumar who led the student volunteer team.
