Meet Our Newest Staff Members
We are very pleased that 2016 brought the addition of Jessica Martin, Lauren Danzig, and Tshering Gurung to the BCNA team! If you haven’t had the pleasure yet, we hope you’ll have an opportunity to get to know them in 2017. They bring a wealth of additional expertise, insight, and enthusiasm to our already exceptional staff.
Jessica Martin joined BCNA in April 2016 as our Portfolio Manager, a role we created to provide our lending teams with ongoing analysis about the performance of BCNA’s loan portfolio and to manage loan documentation. Before joining BCNA, she worked at VGIF, a New York-based international women’s fund, as well as with Americorps in Boston and the Peace Corps in Thailand. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Politics from Bates College and is passionate about working for an organization that provides not only the monetary resources, but also the training and support, necessary to help small businesses grow and flourish. Jessica recently ran the New York City Marathon and enjoys reading about history and politics.
Lauren Danzig joined BCNA in June 2016 as Manager of Development and Communications, working with the Executive Director and Manager of Finance & Administration to develop and execute BCNA’s fundraising and marketing plans. Before joining BCNA, Lauren worked in fundraising and program management roles at several education and healthcare organizations in New York, Chicago, and Seattle. She has a M.S. in Social Work with a concentration in Administration from Columbia University and a B.A. with Honors from The University of Chicago. With a passion for economic empowerment, she is very proud to be working for BCNA. She spends her free time in Brooklyn playing with her rescue cats and dog, gardening, and trying new restaurants.
Tshering Gurung, our newest staff member, joined BCNA in December 2016 and serves as Manager of Business Development in our Jackson Heights office. Tshering came to the U.S. from Nepal in 2010 and is passionate about creating economic development opportunities for immigrants in pursuit of the American Dream. Before joining BCNA, Tshering worked with Chhaya CDC and volunteered with Adhikaar and the International Rescue Committee (IRC). She has an M.B.A. from Kathmandu University and a Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Pune. She enjoys volunteering as Vice President of Manang Samaj of New York – a Nepalese community group – and spends all her free time with her baby boy.
